  • Hillel Study Program:  Hold a Hillel program(s) that focuses on the impact of Jewish rock music.  Here are some discussion ideas:

Study 1: What does it mean to have a Jewish radio station?  Listen to JRR and then a regular radio station.  Try a Christian radio station.  Compare and contrast the stations. Is it important to have a Jewish station?  Why? (contact [email protected] for a list of discussion questions for this lesson).

Study 2:  What is the significance of Jewish rock music?  What significance does Jewish music play in Hillel?  How would Hillel experiences be different without Jewish music?  Why do we have Jewish rock music? Who are the Jewish rock stars and why are they so passionate about playing and writing Jewish music rather than other types of music?

Take a tour of www.jewishrockradio.com with your Hillel participants.  Check out the Featured artists – watch their videos, listen to their music; listen to some of the interviews of Jewish youth on Jewish Rock Radio. (contact [email protected] for a list of more discussion questions for this lesson).

Study 3:  Play a JRR Youth Interview! Follow up with a discussion about the opportunities that exist for exciting youth engagement around the world. Consider focusing lesson on particular JRR youth interview topic – such as AIPAC, Nativ, or JNF and discuss the specific opportunities that are presented in that specific program. Try to set up a conference call with the interviewee who was interviewed on JRR for the class ask questions about his or her experience in that particular program. Take time to discuss the amazing national programs your youth group offers.
