Guster’s Jewish Roots
If you love Jewish music and Jewish musicians, Guster is a band you are probably already very familiar with. Something that sets Guster apart is how the group’s Jewish roots influence their music and connects them with their audience. A group of Tufts University students formed Guster in the early 1990s, and lead singer Ryan Miller is a proud alum of NFTY and URJ camps. Another member of the band, Adam Gardner, is involved in Jewish life – in 2007 when he received the NFTY Social Action Award for his steadfast dedication to improving the environment.
In February, Guster at the NFTY convention, and teens from across the country rocked out to some of their favorite songs. Watch this interview with lead singer Ryan Miller, as he talks to a NFTY interview about his relationship with Judaism, camp, and music.
