Syd Bakal is a singer-songwriter, songleader, actor, musician, and community builder. Syd grew up at the Jewish summer camps OSRUI and Kutz. They were a recipient of a Bronfman Alumni Venture Fund grant to work on an album of original Jewish music, “Tiftach.” They are a graduate of Yale University, where they managed the Yale Whiffenpoofs, mentored LGBTQ+ first-years, led Shabbat services, and performed in various original theatrical productions.
They are currently based in New York, leading Shabbat programming at Central Synagogue, performing at local singer-songwriter events, and touring around the Northeast leading services and Jewish programming.
